COPELOUZOS GROUP participates in the Athens International Airport ( AIA ) “Eleftherios Venizelos” being the only Greek private shareholder.

ΑΙΑis one of the most modern airports in Europe ( “European Airport for the year 2004” ), ranks amongst the top airports in the world ( 2nd best airport in the world in the AETRA awards ) and has received distinctions for the safety, the quality of the services provided to the passengers and the visitors and the perfect organization of its operations and services.

AIA shareholders are the Greek State with a 55% equity stake, the Canadian Investment Fund, PSP Investments with 40% and Copelouzos Group with 5%.

AIA has been awarded several times for its accomplishments in terms of Business and Operational Excellence, Customer Satisfaction and Corporate Services, Cargo Development, I&T and Telecom Services as well as for its energy and environmental contribution (“Greenlight” award) and Cultural activities.

The Athens International Airport is the “Airport of the Year” in the category 10-30 million passengers in the context of “Air Transport News 2015” international awards.  In addition, AIA has been honored by the ACI-Europe with the “Eco-Innovation Award”, which is a significant distinction for the Airport on issues concerning environmental protection.

In the framework of the Corporate Affairs Excellence Awards, AIA was awarded in the category “Company & Stakeholders” for the corporate “i-mind” program .The “i-mind” program asks AIA employees to submit as “potential passengers” their personl views and comments regarding airports services and experience.

In 2015 AIA recorded Profit before TAX of €179.8 million compared to €126.7 million of the previous year.

Overall, during the year 2015, the airport’s traffic reached 18.1 million passengers, an all-time high record for the airport, surpassing prior-year levels by 19%, i.e. an additional 2.9 million passengers on a year-to-year basis.
