The President of COPELOUZOS GROUP, Mr. D. Copelouzos co-signed today in St. Petersburg, Russia, on behalf of “Northern Capital Gateway” the 30 – year Public – Private – Partnership Agreement with the Government of St. Petersburg for the development, reconstruction and operation of Pulkovo airport.
In the “Northern Capital Gateway”, which had been declared in June 2009 preferred bidder of the open International tender launched by the Government of St. Petersburg, participates Horizon Air Investments S.A. member of COPELOUZOS GROUP together with the German Fraport AG, which manages and operates inter alia the airport of Frankfurt, one from the three bigger airports in Europe, and the Russian VTB Capital, member of Group VTB, which constitutes one of the larger state owned banking groups in Russia.
The Project, of € 1.4 billion planned investment, includes the construction of a new passenger terminal, the modernization of the existing airport infrastructure and the construction of new buildings for commercial exploitation, aiming at creating “a modern airport of the highest international standards worthy of the rich cultural heritage of St. Petersburg” as Mr D. Copelouzos pointed out in his speech during the ceremony for the signing of the Agreement.
The PPP Agreement, which will be signed between the joint company of the three shareholders and the Government of St. Petersburg, will have duration of 30 years.
COPELOUZOS GROUP already participates in the share capital of Athens International Airport and the above investment constitutes another step in the series of the Group’s investments in airport development projects in Europe.
