HISTORY

COPELOUZOS GROUP was founded in 1972 by Mr. Dimitrios Ch. Copelouzos. The initial activity was the manufacturing of buses in two industrial units locatedin the area of Thiva, 80 km from Athens. By the end of the 70’s the GROUP had supplied the Greek market with 30% of the urban buses used in Athens and 25% of all tourist and intercity buses of the country.

In 1975, COPELOUZOS GROUP developed alliances with international corporations active in the production of track vehicles and, at the same time, created the largest automobile retail chain in Greece.

In the late 70s, the GROUP invested and developed a network for the supply of excavation equipment, earthmovers and road rollers.

Over this decade, the GROUP expanded its activities in the area of electrification and signaling of railway networks, undertaking the first relevant project in Greece, the telecommunications of the Athens – Thessaloniki railway line for the Greek Railways Organization (OSE).
