The declared European goal of the energy transition from the era of minerals to the era of renewables, goes through the most efficient management of the existing energy supply. In this regard, the use of the necessary number, power and distribution of central energy storage units is proving to be the most technologically optimal and mature method.

Therefore, the Production Licenses for an equal number of Central Storage Stations, with a capacity of 225 MW and 150 MW respectively, in suitable areas within the Industrial Area of Alexandroupolis and Patras respectively are of key importance.

It should be noted that the Copelouzos Group has been a pioneer in this area as well, as it is the first entity in Greece to receive from the Regulatory Authority for Energy two Production Licenses for the development of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) stations in Greece. At the same time, it has also received Production Licenses for a 300 MW Central Storage Station in the Kozani area, 50 MW in the Boeotia area and 50 MW in the Magnesia area.

As part of the further development of the above projects, the company “ELICA” of Copelouzos Group is currently in extensive discussions with major companies operating worldwide in the field of Energy Storage, in order to develop synergies aiming at the optimal, from the techno-economic point of view, finalization of the design and final implementation of these projects.
